OS MAP FROM 1899

The extract below is from the 1899 Ordnance Survey map of Maidenhead - Berkshire 24/11 1899, Second Edition - the black and white original map being at a scale of 1:2500 (the largest available). The waterways shown have been highlighted in blue for convenience and show the original 1899 route of the waterways and the related drainage channels.

The lake just below Chapel Arches is particularly striking, with three small islands clearly visible. Maidenhead town library today occupies an area just to the left of and roughly half way down the lake.
